How to Make Lemonade

It's been all about "How To" writing in Writer's Workshop for the last month or so.  One of our very first activities was to make lemonade together so that we could all experience a procedure together and then explain it for an audience.  That experience was the inspiration for this book, written by a second grader, who envisioned little men with miniature sized machines making lemonade for a regular sized guy.

How to Make Lemonade

First you wash your hands.

Next you cut the lemons.

Then you squeeze the lemon.

Fourth put the lemon juice in the pitcher.

Then fill a little pitcher with water all the way to the top.

After that get some ice.

Then put the ice in the pitcher.

Then get one cup of sugar and measure

Then put the sugar in the pitcher.

The last part of the work is to stir all of those things together.

Last, drink it and enjoy.

Wow!  Anyone else think I have a future author/illustrator on my hands?

The Not-So-Hostile Takeover

I think I might be addicted.

I had green throw cushions and green in my kitchen and bathroom curtains, a green mat and a green towel or two to go with my green potholders.  Then I bought a green clock and well, it's been downhill from there.  I painted a huge green wall and covered my kitchen cabinets in the stuff too.  Moved on into my office and painted a little cupboard green after buying material with green in it, followed by green sheets.

And then today happened.  Green twisted my arm into buying this to make some new dining room cushions.
And now that I have it at home I'm wondering could it be that there is just enough to make green curtains?

Somebody stop the madness.  I'm involved in a not-so-hostile takeover!

This Week

In the month of January this little old blog was left out in the cold with not a post in sight. So neglected was it that I didn't even realize that it was having issues with posting pictures!  After a day or so of figuring that out, I'm ready to at least make sure that February has two posts in it even if they do come one after the other.  So here you go - a little peek into my week!

This week I enjoyed "Office Day".

But you already know that so you should also know that this week we actually woke up to thunder, lightning and overcast skies.  It rained (or spit) on us twice in one day!  That pretty much never happens in February.

This week my last major home improvement for awhile (I hope!) was completed.  More on this later.  (Hey I might even hit 3 posts in February!)

This week the Titanic set sail from Sahel Academy.  Thankfully, this time the only part of it that sunk was the fabulous cake pictured in the bottom right hand corner. All our students enjoyed a night of fine dining and dancing.

Which brings me to the last item on this list...this week Sahel got hit my another flash mob.  Love these things!

And because I never posted the other one - here's the first flash mob of this year which occurred way back during Spirit Week.

Office Day

It's another day at the office, friends.

Put on your power suit and mary janes and whatever you do, take it seriously.

Well, not that seriously!

In fact, go ahead, kick up your heels and shout,

"Office Day Rocks!"

Note:  "Office Day" comes on average once a month.  You will know it has arrived when at least two or more members of the family pictured above are wearing their business suits.  "Office Day" is guaranteed to put a smile on your face but when the business suits are accompanied by little high heeled shoes "Office Day" reaches a whole new level.  "Office Day" = Awesome Day
